About our research

Osteopathy Australia's research activities aim to encourage osteopaths in clinical practice to understand the relevance and value of research and evidence-based medicine, as well as the strategic role it plays in lobbying decision-makers and educating consumers about osteopathy to promote the work of the profession in primary healthcare in Australia.

Research projects

We partner with universities, research institutions, and multidisciplinary teams on projects that explore the safety, effectiveness, and outcomes of osteopathic care. These studies contribute to a stronger evidence base and highlight the role of osteopathy in Australia's health system.

Supporting you

Advancing osteopathy research is a shared effort, and every contribution helps strengthen the profession. By completing surveys like ORION, participating in member-led studies, or supporting funding through donations, you help build a stronger evidence base and improve patient outcomes.

Donate to the Osteopathy Australia Research Foundation

Your donation helps drive high-quality, independent research that supports the growth, credibility and clinical impact of osteopathy in Australia.

Evidence

We are committed to supporting evidence-informed care. Osteopathy Australia regularly reviews and shares research findings, clinical guidelines, and practical tools to help members deliver safe, effective, and patient-centered care. Our aim is to bridge the gap between research and everyday practice.

Planning for a research roadmap

Building a strong research culture is essential to advancing evidence-informed osteopathic practice, yet many practitioners face barriers to engaging in research. To address this, Osteopathy Australia is convening a strategic workshop to review the current research landscape, assess progress and challenges, and set clear priorities for research funding and mentorship initiatives that support a sustainable, practice-relevant research future. Together, we will develop a roadmap for short, medium and long-term projects.
