This federal election we wish to advocate for accessible and affordable care for all Australians by raising the profile of osteopathy.
Osteopathy can assist in addressing critical healthcare issues being faced by Australians, including preventing and managing chronic conditions, reducing unnecessary surgeries, hospital stays and pharmaceutical interventions while helping to ensure timely, cost-effective access to quality healthcare.
We need your help to advocate for a national healthcare system that is patient-centered and promotes true multidisciplinary team care.

Priorities for reform
Equitable care for all
- Support community access: Improve the health of Australians suffering from chronic conditions by expanding funding of Medicare’s Chronic Disease Management Program.
- Increase access to osteopathy under the NDIS : By granting osteopaths a line item under the scheme.
- Support return veterans: Allocate funding to comprehensively review the DVA fee schedule to provide fairer remuneration for allied health professionals.
Faster, accessible and affordable care
- Enable direct referrals: Support the implementation of the scope of practice review’s recommendation to allow osteopaths to directly refer patients to orthopaedic surgeons.
- Expand diagnostic imaging rights: Expand the diagnostic imaging rights held by osteopaths to help patients access quicker and cheaper care.
Accessible care for older Australians
- Faster, accessible and affordable care: Through access to osteopathy services in home care and residential care.
Strengthen and support our allied health workforce

Support the future of our profession: Expand the Commonwealth Prac Payment program and incentive programs to allied health professions with shortages to help keep our workforce strong.
- Support our workforce: Support and fund the implementation of the National Allied Health Workforce Strategy.
Enhance and modernise allied healthcare

Fund and support research: provide government-based grant schemes to allied health-specific research to strengthen evidence-based care.
- Modernise allied health care: ensure allied health are represented in the digital health space.

The association’s 2025 Federal Election campaign is centred on access, affordability and equity for both patients and practitioners.
As an association member, you can:
- Speak to your local representatives directly: use our pre-drafted email or create a personalised message using the Do Gooder tool below. You can also call your local representative directly to discuss the issues important to you. Enter your postcode or address to identify the candidates in your electorate.
- Post on social media: use our social tiles. Download them here to post to your social media or share our posts.
- Raise awareness of osteopathy: promote the value of osteopathy within your community and through your networks.
