AHPA's Disability Roundtable with Senator the Hon Jenny McAllister

We represented you at AHPA’s disability-focused roundtable with Senator the Hon Jenny McAllister and a collective of allied health peak associations in Sydney on Friday 5 September.

On 5 September 2025, Alexander Norden, Policy Officer represented Osteopathy Australia members at AHPA’s disability-focused roundtable with Senator the Hon Jenny McAllister, Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The roundtable centred on three key areas:

  • NDIS therapy pricing policy
  • Foundational Supports and the new Thriving Kids initiative
  • Evidence-based therapy supports

What matters for our members:

  • Government must consult early and consistently on pricing, as the 2024–25 Annual Pricing Review created challenges across the sector.
  • Thriving Kids and the NDIS must connect smoothly so children don’t miss out on care.
  • Peak associations like Osteopathy Australia need to be actively engaged in therapy reviews.

We’ll continue advocating strongly for osteopaths working in disability as policy reviews progress with government, the NDIA and the new NDIS Evidence Advisory Committee.

Greater transparency from the government and NDIA around policy reviews alongside deep engagement with peak associations like Osteopathy Australia will ensure these reviews are methodical and equitable.
