Important webinar changes from 1 March 2025

From 1 March 2025, we will introduce changes to our webinar structure. These changes have come about because securing presenters for webinars has become increasingly difficult due to low attendance. While registrations have remained high, actual attendance and participation are poor, and presenter feedback highlights that low engagement during Q&A sessions has influenced their willingness to participate in future webinars.

To maintain the value of CPD and address these challenges, we will introduce a $15.00 fee for on-demand webinars starting 1 March 2025. CPD should be a meaningful investment, not just a tick-box exercise. The fee encourages active participation, respects presenters' time and effort, and aligns with industry standards.

These changes apply only to webinars featuring guest presenters, such as allied health professionals, patient groups and other associations. Members who attend the live webinar will still receive free access to the on-demand recording.

Still free: Webinars delivered by members, sponsors or staff will continue to be free for members. Including a short quiz after each webinar helps ensure Ahpra continues to recognise Osteopathy Australia's CPD offering as high quality and verifiable.

Webinar and on-demand recordings

Members who access webinars during live broadcasts can do so at no cost. However, webinars now conclude with a short quiz, which members must complete to receive their CPD certificate.
Members who watch the live webinar broadcast and complete the quiz can access the on-demand recording later at no cost.
Members who do not attend the webinar can still access the recording for a $15.00 fee.
Registering for a webinar does not constitute watching it. If a member registers for a webinar but can't watch the broadcast live, they must pay the $15.00 on-demand fee to watch the recording.
The $15.00 fee is a one-time payment to access each on-demand recording.
To help validate the participant's understanding of on-demand content, a short quiz will need to be completed, where successful completion will result in the issuance of a CPD certificate.

Members will still be able to access FREE CPD webinars at no cost if the webinar falls into one of the six below categories:

Webinars that are produced by the association and don't involve third parties.
Webinar recordings that are published outside of the current calendar year.
Webinars that contain education on Indigenous cultural awareness.
Webinars that members of the association host.
Webinars produced to highlight and support campaigns such as awareness days/ weeks/ months such as Osteopathy Awareness month.
Webinars which our partners host.

Non-members will continue to be charged to access live and on-demand webinars.

Why is Osteopathy Australia making these changes?

To address this and ensure CPD retains its value, a $15.00 fee has been introduced for on-demand webinars. CPD should be a meaningful investment, not just a tick-box exercise. The fee encourages active participation, respects the time and effort of presenters, and aligns with industry standards.

These changes apply only to webinars featuring guest presenters, such as allied health professionals, patient groups and other associations. Webinars delivered by members, sponsors or staff oganisation will continue to be free for members.

The inclusion of a short quiz also helps validate CPD completion, ensuring certificates are awarded to those who truly engage with the content.
When will the changes take effect?

These changes are being trialled from 1 March 2025 to 30 November 2025 (the end of the current CPD cycle)
What changes are being made to live webinars?

There are two changes being implemented. Firstly, webinar registrants will be required to complete a short quiz at the completion of the webinar. The second change will see registrants, who successfully complete the quiz, receive a CPD certificate via email.
What changes are being made to recorded, on-demand webinars?

Any member who wants to access a recorded webinar featuring a guest speaker, on-demand, within the calendar year it was recorded, will have to pay a $15.00 fee to do so. This $15.00 fee then enables the member unlimited access to the recording until such a time that its content is deemed no longer current or relevant. Following the initial viewing of the webinar, the member will need to successfully complete a short quiz. Successful completion of the quiz will then allow the member to receive a CPD certificate.
Why am I being made to do a quiz?

Completing the quiz helps ensure Ahpra continues to recognise Osteopathy Australia's CPD offering as being high quality and verifiable.
When will the quiz made available?

The quiz will be available immediately after the webinar, once the presenter and Q&A session have concluded. It must be completed correctly to receive the CPD certificate.
Can I access the quiz before the webinar starts?

No, the quiz will only be available after the webinar. It has been designed to help validate CPD completion and ensure participants have engaged with the content.
Roughly, how long will each quiz take to complete?

Each quiz will comprise of three multiple choice questions, so we envisage completion will take no more than two minutes of your time.
Will there be any webinars that are free to view on-demand?

Yes. The following six categories of webinars will remain free for members to watch on-demand:

1. Webinars that are produced by the association and don't involve third parties.

2. Webinar recordings that are published outside of the current calendar year.

3. Webinars which contain education on Indigenous cultural awareness.

4. Webinars which are hosted by members of the association.

5. Webinars which are produced to raise awareness of awareness dates such as Osteopathy Awareness month.

6. Webinars which our partners host.
What are the benefits of attending live webinars versus watching them on-demand?

Other than getting CPD hours at no cost, you can engage with presenters during dedicated Q&A sessions and have your specific questions answered. Additionally, as the timeslot for live webinars is fixed, the incentive to dedicate your time to undertaking CPD should be enhanced.
If I watch a live webinar and then successfully complete the quiz, can I then access the same webinar on-demand at no cost?

Yes, you will have access to the recording until such a time that the content is deemed noncurrent or no longer relevant.
How many times, per on-demand webinar, will a quiz have to be completed to a satisfactory level, to receive a CPD certificate?

Just the once. The inclusion of a short quiz has been designed to validate CPD completion, ensuring certificates are awarded to those who truly engage with the content.
How many times per webinar (live or on-demand) will a quiz have to be completed to a satisfactory level, in order to receive a CPD certificate?

Just the once. The inclusion of a short quiz has been designed to validate CPD completion, ensuring certificates are awarded to those who truly engage with the content.
Can I access a webinar on-demand without attending the live broadcast?

Yes, but unless it falls into one of the six nominated free categories, it will cost $15.00.
Can I watch a live webinar in its entirety and not complete the quiz?

Yes, but as we cannot validate your understanding of the webinar content, we cannot issue a CPD certificate for that webinar.
Do I earn CPD hours for watching an on-demand webinar?

Yes, CPD hours remain.
What happens if I leave a webinar early? Will I still get CPD hours and a certificate?

No. CPD certificates are generated following the successful completion of a short quiz.
Can I watch part of a live webinar and watch the rest of it later on-demand at no cost?

No, access to the on-demand recording is only granted after attending the full live webinar and completing the quiz. Watching part of the live session does not provide free access to the recording.
What do I do if I’ve signed up for a webinar but can’t attend at the last minute?

Whilst this may be an unavoidable occurrence, if you miss a live broadcast and you still want to watch the webinar, you will have to pay the $15.00 fee to watch it on-demand.
Will I be penalised if I register for a live webinar and subsequently, cannot attend?

No, there is no penalty for missing a live webinar. However, you will forfeit free access to the on-demand recording. Please keep in mind that frequent no-shows have contributed to the need for this trial, as low live attendance impacts engagement and presenter availability
I live in Western Australia and the 7:30pm AEST live broadcast means I’ll be disadvantaged by this change.

We understand that the time difference may disadvantage WA members. To accommodate this, WA-based members will have three business days after the live webinar to register for on-demand access at no cost. After this period, the standard $15.00 fee will apply.
