Submission: Aged Care allied health needs assessment tool

We recently provided written feedback to the Department of Health and Aged Care in response to an online provider survey gathering information to inform the development of an aged care allied health needs assessment tool.

Our feedback included:

  • That we were disappointed to see that the survey was only open to a select few allied health professions not including osteopathy. We highlighted that feedback should be sought from all allied health professionals working in aged care so a well-rounded, fit-for-purpose needs assessment tool is developed.
  • We also called for clarity from the Department regarding the classification of osteopathy under the new Aged Care Rules, advocacy for osteopathy to recategorized into the appropriate ‘allied health and therapy’ category.
