The association's Board has allocated $100,000 for a one-off Targeted Call for Research (TCR) into osteopathy for musculoskeletal conditions. This is a partnership grant opportunity - Osteopathy Australia intends to select, partner with, and support one applicant for their submission to a Category 1 funding scheme such as, but not limited to, ARC Linkage or NHMRC Partnership.
Through extensive consultation, we have formulated a research question that focuses on supporting osteopaths' role in primary healthcare and demonstrating osteopathy's value in addressing Australia's major health challenges.
Preference will be given to EOIs focusing on head and neck-related conditions, but applications are not limited to those conditions.
This TCR has a two-stage application process:
Stage 1 – All interested applicants complete an EOI. This is a draft research proposal and does not need to be fully developed.
Stage 2 – EOIs of interest will be shortlisted and select applicants invited to submit a full application. At this stage all details of the research proposal must be confirmed.
The chosen applicant from Stage 2 will then be able to partner with the association for their submission to a Category 1 funding scheme – the applicant must complete their submission for the Category 1 grant scheme by the end of 2026.
Stage 1 - Expressions of Interest - is opening on 1 July 2025, and closing on 1 October 2025.
Stage 2 - Full applications are expected to open in December 2025 and close April 2026.
Guidelines and policies for the TCR can be found below with the application form. Applicants must read the guidelines and policy documents before completing an EOI as they outline:
