Research study into the intersection between preventive health and clinical practice

Call out to participate in research about the perspectives of osteopaths regarding preventive health and how osteopaths share information with patients about health promotion and health behaviours.

What is the research about?

The purpose of this research/online survey is to explore the perspectives of osteopaths regarding preventive health, and how osteopaths share information with patients about health promotion and health behaviours. 

How you can help

We would welcome your assistance with this research, which will involve completing an online survey and should take no more than 15-25 minutes of your time.  We have asked you to participate because you are a member of Osteopathy Australia and the research team is seeking to survey registered osteopaths in active clinical practice.

To participate in the study, please confirm the following:  

  • You are an osteopath registered with Ahpra; 
  • You are currently in active clinical practice in Australia; 
  • You are able to complete an online survey in the English language.

Who is conducting this research?

The research is being conducted by Associate Professor Amie Steel, a co-director and researcher at ARCCIM, UTS. She is undertaking this research with Dr Hope Foley, Associate Professor Deborah Debono and Distinguished Professor Jon Adams from UTS. 

Funding

Funding for this project has been received from the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia and Osteopathy Australia. While the study provides no financial benefit to these funders, the research findings may provide information relevant to their roles as professional associations. The study may assist the funders in identifying ways to better support their respective professions in providing preventive health care for patients and communities. Associate Professor Amie Steel is also funded through an Australian Research Council Future Fellowship grant (FT220100610).
