The webinar:

As AI-powered tools become increasingly integrated into healthcare, ensuring compliance with Australian regulations is essential for protecting client data and maintaining ethical standards. This webinar will guide osteopaths, practice managers, and decision-makers through the key legal and regulatory considerations when selecting AI-powered tools. We will cover: The Privacy Act, Australian Privacy Principles, and healthcare-specific regulations, Ensuring data sovereignty and security in AI-powered healthcare solutions, Ethical considerations and bias mitigation in AI decision-making, Best practices for evaluating AI vendors and tools for compliance. Join us for an insightful discussion on how to harness AI’s potential while staying compliant and safeguarding client trust.

Learning objectives:

  1. Understand the legal framework governing AI in healthcare. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the Privacy Act 1988, the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and healthcare-specific regulations that apply to the use of AI in clinical practice.
  2. Identify data sovereignty and security requirements in AI-powered tools. Attendees will learn how to assess whether AI solutions meet data residency, encryption, and access control standards, ensuring compliance with national requirements and protecting patient information.
  3. Recognise ethical risks and bias in AI decision-making. Participants will explore the ethical implications of AI, including the potential for algorithmic bias, and learn how to evaluate whether AI tools are transparent, fair, and ethically aligned with patient-centred care.
  4. Evaluate AI vendors and solutions for compliance and trustworthiness. Attendees will leave with a checklist of best practices for selecting and implementing AI tools in their practice, including questions to ask vendors, indicators of trustworthy technology, and how to document compliance efforts.
