The webinar:

Dr Andrew Timos (Osteopath) discusses current strength and conditioning concepts with regards to the physiological and structural adaptations that occur from resistance training. Hear Andrew explain how components of the nervous system and musculoskeletal system adapt from various exercise stimuli, all of which contribute to enhancing exercise performance and decreasing risk of injury.

Andrew covers different programming strategies and how exercise selection can impact many of these adaptations. His talk includes understanding how various repetition zones and load intensities influence motor unit output, muscle fibre composition, and bone mineral density. Furthermore, these concepts will be discussed and compared amongst common exercise applications within a practical setting, all of which can assist in improving the exercise rehabilitation and programming skillset amongst osteopaths.

Learning objectives:

  1. Understand how resistance training influences the RFD and muscle fibres.
  2. Explore the impact of resistance training on bone mineral density.
  3. Understand how repetition zones and load intensities can impact adaptations.
  4. Learn how choosing specific exercises impacts adaptation responses and their real-world applicability..
