Hypermobility hybrid workshop-Western Australia

SOLD OUT

Join Dr Ashton Wilson (Osteopath) for this special hypermobility hybrid workshop, combining an interactive online theory session with a hands-on practical workshop in Perth.

This event wraps up EDS and HSD Awareness Month (May) with an in depth look into supporting hypermobile patients through evidence-informed care, exercise rehabilitation and whole body strategies.

Workshop format:

Part 1 - online theory session (Zoom)

Wednesday 28 May 2025

6:00PM AWST

This session is designed to set you up for the hands-on practical session. Ashton will cover the theory behind EDS and HSD, including common co-morbidities and how to identify hypermobility. There'll also be time for questions.

You'll need to attend this session to take part in the in-person practical.

Part 2 - in-person practical (Perth location)

Saturday 7 June 2025 from 1:00PM to 5:00PM AWST

99 Loftus Street, Leederville, Western Australia, room: Kambarang - Second Spring

This workshop will bring the theory to life with practical assessment tips, movement strategies and rehab ideas you can take straight back to your clinic.

Learning objectives:

  1. understand the physiology of connective tissue disorders: hEDS/HSD
  2. explore the co-morbidities (e.g. POTS, MCAS, ME/CFS) that are associated and how to identify them
  3. how to coach posture awareness, entry level rehab and strength training adaptations for the hypermobile patient
  4. pain management strategies to help empower your hypermobile patients

Workshop presenter:

Ashton Wilson began her studies with a three-year Bachelor of Biomedical Science, where she majored in anatomy and physiology. She then switched to a more hands on approach, where she completed a three-year Bachelor of Clinical Science and a two-year Masters of Osteopathy.

Ashton has a keen interest in working with connective tissue disorders including Hypermobility Spectrum Disorder (HSD) and Hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (EDS). She understands the hypermobile body and uses a unique combination of manual therapy and exercise rehab to stabilise the body.
