Poor record keeping has the potential to cause issues for both osteopaths and their patients. It also makes our job as a professional indemnity insurer difficult. So, it’s in everyone’s interest that osteopaths become more familiar with what a good clinical record is and the benefits of this.

This education module has been developed by Guild, as part of their partnership with Osteopathy Australia, to educate osteopaths about their obligations regarding clinical records as well as help them understand the implications for them and their patients if they don’t adhere to these obligations.

Completing this mandatory module will help you understand the:

  • Reasons for good record keeping, including: It being a regulatory requirement, it helps with funding audits and continuity of patient care
  • Numerous items to include in patient records, such as: The patient's presenting complaint, their informed consent, any contraindications or health alerts
  • Legal obligation to manage the privacy and confidentiality of records: This includes knowing about disposing or destoying of records and notifibale data breaches
