Presenters: Dr. Jarrad Stevens and Dr. David Slattery

Jarrad is a Melbourne-trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in conditions affecting bone and joints. His sub-specialty interests include trauma, hip and knee joint replacement, revision joint replacement and soft tissue conditions around the knee.

Jarrad has completed an advanced trauma surgery fellowship at Southmead Major Trauma Centre, Bristol, England. Jarrad has also undertaken further fellowships at the prestigious Avon Orthopaedic Centre and the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he specialised in joint replacement surgery, soft tissue knee surgery, patellofemoral joint stabilisation procedures, ACL reconstruction and sports injuries.

During his time in the United Kingdom, Jarrad was awarded his Master of Surgery degree from the University of Edinburgh and was presented the Sir Harold Stiles Medal for his research into revision knee replacements.

Complementing a strong academic background, Jarrad is serving member of the Australian Defence Force, and has deployed on active service to Iraq, Kuwait, Afghanistan and other areas of the Middle East.

Jarrad now works with patients in the public and private sectors in Melbourne and regularly cares for soft tissue and bone injury, sporting injuries and chronic disease. His interests are in hip and knee joint surgeries, joint replacement, ACL reconstruction as well as trauma, soft tissue injury and surgery for fractures. He is an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne.

David is a highly respected orthopaedic surgeon who grew up in Melbourne and completed his undergraduate medical degree in 2008 at the University of Queensland, graduating with first class honours. He returned to Melbourne and completed internship and residency at The Alfred Hospital. David was accepted into the Orthopaedic Specialist training program in 2010 with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. He subsequently undertook fellowship training in the UK, Switzerland and Australia in Hip Reconstruction, Hip Preservation, Anterior Hip Replacement, Knee Replacement and Sports Injuries. Key to David’s practice is a patient-centred focus, and tailoring individualised treatments. He has a wide variety of open and arthroscopic surgical skills and is able to individualise care plans to meet every patient’s unique problems. David specialises in adult and paediatric orthopaedics, including hip dysplasia, hip arthritis, femoroacetabular impingement, SUFE, meniscal injuries, knee arthritis, and sports injuries. Communication is central to David’s practice and he endeavours to ensure that patients are actively engaged in the decision-making process at all stages of their treatment journey. He prides himself on being open and honest with patients and will do his utmost to ensure that they are engaged and that their expectations are met.
