The CPD Working Group

The CPD Working Group supports and advises on the development of the education and professional development content for Osteopathy Australia's CPD offerings. The Group is also responsible for assessing endorsed course applications, making recommendations towards CPD course presenters and offering advice on osteopathic and clinical practice guidelines.

CPD Working Group Terms of Reference

The Working Group's remit:
  1. Help guide the association with achieving key recommendations from Advancia Consulting's 2024 Learning Needs Analysis. 
  2. Form part of the committee which helps select abstract submissions for the Australian Osteopathy Conference.
  3. Participate in the production of the Osteo Talk podcast as an interviewer, guest, or by recommending practitioners for interviews.
  4. Contribute to webinar production and assisting our hosts or partners by providing osteopathic insights during broadcasts.
  5. Assess and provide feedback on Endorsed Course applications.
  6. Review prospective CPD content submitted to Osteopathy Australia for consideration.
  7. Provide clinical feedback and advice on CPD related education.
  8. Assist in sourcing talent to facilitate workshops and seminars. 
  9. Represent the association at in-person workshops.
  10. Provide guidance on current and emerging clinical and osteopathic practices.
  11. Advise on the challenges faced by students and early career osteopaths to provide relevant content for those representing the future of the profession.
  12. Uphold and build the editorial quality and integrity of all educational content produced for Osteopathy Australia.

Meet the team:

Dr Dorian Hardy-Dessources (Osteopath)

Dorian Hardy-Dessources, the therapist at Shift Osteopathy, has a deep passion for helping people of all ages through manual therapy. His interest began in childhood, receiving therapy for asthma, which sparked his fascination with the human body. Dorian studied at the European Centre of Osteopathic Superior Studies (CEESO) in Paris, graduating in 2011.

Dorian's career has taken him across the globe. He spent six years in Toronto, collaborating with chiropractors and physiotherapists, treating a diverse range of patients, from construction workers to professional athletes. In 2017, he moved to Sydney, working at Central Sydney Osteopathy before establishing Shift Osteopathy in Randwick. His practice blends his extensive international experience with a commitment to holistic, whole-body-focused therapy, making a real difference in his patients' lives.

Dr Sam Kayll (Osteopath)

Sam graduated from RMIT University in 2019 and has since worked in private practice and aged care in regional and metropolitan Victoria. He is currently the principal osteopath at The Spinal Studio Traralgon. 

Alongside his clinical work, Sam is involved in musculoskeletal and biomechanical research. He has completed an Honours degree and is currently a PhD Candidate at the Centre for Health Exercise and Sports Medicine at The University of Melbourne, investigating novel treatments for adolescent and adult patellofemoral pain. 

As an early career osteopath, Sam is looking forward to bringing his unique perspective to the Working Group.

Dr Amy Lawton (Osteopath)

Amy attended Victoria University where she completed a Bachelor and Master of Health Sciences in Osteopathy. She also holds a BSc, majoring in physiology and neuroscience, from Melbourne University. 

Amy divides her time between working in private practice, lecturing in the VU Osteopathy program and is a PhD Candidate exploring the roles of the allied health professions and interprofessional care in community-based falls prevention.

Amy is passionate about combining industry experience with tertiary education and research to engage students and prepare them to be successful evidence-based practitioners. In her role in the CPD Working Group, Amy aims to use her osteopathic and education knowledge and experience to help grow the profession and inspire osteopaths to be lifelong learners.

Dr Jake Martin (Osteopath)

Originally from the UK, Jake completed his studies in osteopathy at Southern Cross University on the Gold Coast. Jake is extremely passionate about healthcare and goes above and beyond to help his patients get out of pain and achieve their goals.

Jake has travelled throughout Australia to attend continuing education courses and is committed to staying up to date with advances in musculoskeletal healthcare. Jake believes in comprehensive history taking and assessment to achieve the most effective results in treatment. He combines a hands-on approach (joint manipulation/mobilisation and soft tissue techniques) with exercise therapy for the treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions.

When not at work, you’ll find Jake at the gym, at the farmer's markets or enjoying good coffee. Jake is an avid fan of boxing, MMA and football (soccer).

Dr Kale Mazurek (Osteopath)

Kale has been an osteopath for more than 15 years and is an experienced health and education professional. He specialises in chronic pain conditions and is passionate about growing the osteopathic profession in the allied health sector. He gained his qualifications at RMIT University and has worked as a clinical educator and tutor at Victoria University. 

Kale currently balances his own private practice in Winchelsea, Victoria while working with the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) where he advices on value-based health care plans for critically injured clients.

Dr Antonio Pilotto (Osteopath)

Antonio Pilotto graduated with degrees in physiotherapy in 2009 and in osteopathy in 2016. Since January 2010, Antonio has been working with musculoskeletal disorders, both at chronic and acute stages, starting from the initial assessment until the return to sport in the case of athletes or recreational activities in the case of amateurs. From 2020 to 2024, Antonio worked in Qatar at Hamad Medical Corporation, where he oversaw the designing of CPD activities for the Scientific Planning Committee.

In February 2024, Antonio completed his MSc in Medical Education at Warwick University (UK). 

Dr Rebecca Prenc (Osteopath)

Rebecca graduated from Victoria University with a Bachelor of Clinical Science (Osteopathy) and a Master of Health Science (Osteopathy).  Rebecca has also completed a Bachelor of Health Science (Food Science and Nutrition) from Deakin University and a Graduate Certificate in Tertiary Education from Victoria University.

Rebecca worked at multiple osteopathic clinics in Melbourne before opening up her own clinic within a multidisciplinary GP practice in 2018. Alongside her work in private practice, she works as an educator at Victoria University, primarily teaching in the first-year osteopathy program.  

Both in the clinic and at university, Rebecca enjoys creating a learning environment that is student-centred and engaging and has a keen interest in preparing individuals to be evidence-based lifelong learners.  She hopes to bring this passion and experience to the CPD Working Group. 

Dr Heath Williams (Osteopath)

Since graduating from Victoria University in 2003 with a Bachelor of Clinical Science and Master’s in Health Science (Osteopathy), Heath has had a varied career in the health and wellbeing space, including teaching roles in exercise rehabilitation, ergonomics and clinical education. Heath has worked extensively in the occupational health and safety industry, firstly with Health Response UK in London and now with Corporate Work Health Australia. He is experienced in the fields of office and vehicle ergonomics, task analysis, manual handling, and risk assessment training.

Heath is one of Osteopathy Australia's advanced occupational health osteopaths (vocational) and in 2025, Heath was successful in being elected as a Director to the Osteopathy Australia Board of Directors.

Heath is looking forward to providing association members and other key stakeholders with educational content that will add to and further enhance our standing in the health community.
